Olesia Shewchuk is a TV & Stage actor, classically trained singer & pianist, conductor, and award-winning filmmaker.

​Olesia has appeared in TV roles on Netflix, NBC, Fox, ABC, Bravo, Freeform, CW and Global and received an award for BEST ACTRESS IN A FEATURE FILM in Prof (World Premiere Film Awards). A triple threat, she has performed in 24 stage shows, including leads in Camelot, Once, and The Merry Widow. Olesia trained in ballet (at Royal Winnipeg Ballet), tap and jazz. She danced with the Rusalka Dance Ensemble, taught and choreographed folk dance for 7 years at the UNF School of Dance.

Olesia is a vocal soloist, and has performed with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the New Westminster Symphony Orchestra, the National Ballet of Ukraine, and City Opera Vancouver. 

 

Olesia is the Conductor of Barvinok Folk Choir and arranges choral and instrumental music. She also teaches private vocal lessons, as well as group vocal workshops. Olesia enjoys hosting sing-a-longs and music jams that bring people and community together, accompanying on guitar and piano.

Behind the camera as a filmmaker, Olesia has produced, directed, edited, composed, written or story edited over 60 short films, including directing and editing the award-winning films Mime Vs Junkie, The Perfect Gift for Flora, Breaking Ground. She also edited, composed, co-wrote the award-winning short opera film, The Perfect Spot (Vibrant House Productions). During the pandemic Olesia created The Short Film Lab, an interactive online course that teaches the filmmaking process, and is proud to have mentored the making of 13 short films. 

Olesia also hosts a weekly drop-in accountability virtual group, Goals on the Clock, through Write on the Clock.

Olesia has an Honours Degree in Chemical Physics and is currently writing a science musical.
